More than 16,000 people are provided with care at home every week by this company. Care UK supports adults with learning disabilities and mental-health problems as well as operating NHS GP surgeries and treatment centres. The company runs nearly 60 nursing and residential homes for older people but sold its 16 children’s homes to Keys Education earlier this year for an undisclosed amount and bought SMI, a company specialising in medical-imaging services. Bridgepoint Capital delisted the group for £414m in 2010 and sales that year grew to £435.3m under chief executive Mike Parish.
