If you ever dine in a restaurant and wish you could buy similar food to take home, Carluccio’s could be the answer. The Italian food company claims to be unique in combining a restaurant and delicatessen in the same location. The company says 37,000 people eat in its restaurants every week and an additional 15,000 retail purchases are made from its 14 locations in London and southeast England. The company was set up in 1991 by Italian food guru Antonio Carluccio and his wife Priscilla, who is the sister of Sir Terence Conran. Its sales have grown by nearly 110% a year from £1.4m in 1999 to £12.7m in 2002.
