Carwow’s website enables consumers to choose and buy a car from a network of franchised dealerships. Built in-house by its team of 65 engineers, the platform has facilitated car sales of more than £2bn. Since being founded in 2010 by friends James Hind, 31, Alexandra Margolis, 31, and David Santoro, 34, it has raised £48m in funding. Investors include the Zoopla founder Alex Chesterman, Accel, Balderton Capital and Vitruvian. Opening offices in Paris and Munich has facilitated expansion, helping sales reach £15.3m last year. It plans to open a base in Spain this year.
