Central Trust has come a long way since it was set up by accountants Andrew Turner and his wife Sharon in 1987 with three employees in a small dark office in northwest London. The company is now based in Norwich and acts as an intermediary between the borrowing public and banks such as Lloyds TSB and Barclays, helping to match customers with the right financial products. The company has grown its sales 72% a year from £4m in 1998 to £20.4m in 2001, when it employed 186 people.
