As the market for battery-powered cars continues to grow, this Luton-headquartered supplier of charging points achieved sales of £12.8m in 2014, with 27,000 commercial and private charging points installed across Europe. The firm claims to have 55% of the UK market and is targeting expansion in the Benelux countries and Germany using £3m of investment from Beringea, Swiss tech fund Newton and BMW. It also received investment this year from US group Qualcomm Incorporated and plans to use the company’s wireless technology for chargepoints. Chargemaster was founded in 2008 by chief executive David Martell, 67.
