Chilly’s was founded in 2010 by James Butterfield, 29, and Tim Bouscarle, 30, with the aim of providing people with cold water on-the-go, without having to buy single-use plastic water bottles. The pair raised £9,000 from crowdfunding site Indiegogo in 2013, and their insulated resuable bottles are now sold online, via retail partners such as Urban Outfitters and Pret A Manger, and direct to corporate clients. It has donated £200,000 this year from the sale of its Refill co-branded bottles to environmental group City to Sea. With mainland Europe accounting for 45% of its £11.9m sales, the London company plans to launch the brand in the US next year.
