Founded in 1951 by Thomas Mackie, this electrical wholesaler now has more than 400 branches in Britain and another 400 worldwide. The Kenilworth company makes its own brands of electrical components such as cables and switches for sale to electrical contractors, and runs a 1,700-vehicle delivery service. Still owned by Mackie family trusts, City Electrical Factors turned in sales of £496m in 2005.
