Willie Haughey had an abortive career as a footballer and a stint making his fortune in the Middle East under his belt before starting City Refrigeration Holdings in 1985 with his wife, Susan. Originally offering refrigeration services, the company branched into facilities management and in 2001 hit the big time with a 10-year contract to manage Asda’s cleaning and facilities management activities. The Glasgow-based company posted sales of £222m in 2007.
