Founded in 1958 by Michael Clancy to work on roads and drainage in London, this builder and civil engineer now specialises in contract work across Britain for the power, rail and utility industries, with customers including Thames Water. It also undertakes refurbishment work and “new build” projects. Sales totalled £131.8m in 2004. The business remains in Clancy family hands and is jointly managed by the founder’s sons Dermot and Kevin.
