Co-founders Daniel Long, 32, and Rob Linton, 54, were working in investment banking and logistics respectively when they decided to swap their jobs for rubbish collection, launching Clearabee in 2013. The Birmingham company now has a fleet of more than 100 vans offering rubbish removal and skip hire across the UK, for corporate customers including Wren Kitchens and the Co-op. It also offers domestic customers sack collection, sofa removal and a missed bin service. Sales reached £12.2m last year, when it diverted more than 95% of waste collected away from landfill. It has also purchased 10 acres of forest to offset its vehicles’ carbon emissions and has planted 12,000 trees this year.
