Climate Energy

If you need advice on how to cut your household bills, this Essex firm is keen to help. It claims to run the largest advice centre in Britain on behalf of the Energy Saving Trust, although it gets most of its revenue by acting as a broker between home owners and utility companies, which, by law, have to subsidise domestic energy-efficiency initiatives. Founded in 2005 and now led by managing director Andrew Holmes after a buyout backed by Climate Change Capital in 2009, the firm saw sales rise 67% a year, from £6.6m in 2007 to an annualised £30.9m in 2010.
