Seamus Grealish and Joe Samuels founded their facilities management company in 1997 with £600,000 raised by remortgaging their houses and with additional funding from the Enterprise Investment Scheme and business angels. The company beat competition for its first client, Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi, by being the only one to tender in Japanese. Now the Surrey company has contracts with more than 80 clients including Lloyd’s of London and Barclays. Sales have grown 166% a year from £1.1m in 1998 to £20.6m in 2001, when the company had 220 employees.
