Husband and wife team Philip and Judith Clarke founded Computer Display Systems in 1989 in the West Midlands. They planned to capitalise on the growing demand for audio-visual equipment. Their biggest challenge has been convincing customers that they need technology that they often don’t understand. Their strategy has been to teach customers about the technology by doing?. Expanding to five locations over the last few years has proved costly. Like many companies on the list, Computer Display has had to rely on factoring to fund expansion. Sales have grown from £602k in 1994 to £3.4m last year.
