Corbetts the Galvanizers

Samuel Corbett started the business in the Shropshire village of Wellington in 1860. Having strong links to the agricultural industry, the company continued to trade as a private family firm until its incorporation as a limited company in 1951. Today Corbetts is based in modern facilities in Telford, and gives protective zinc coatings to metal products including fencing, manhole covers, lampposts and scaffolding. It is owned and run by Ajmer Singh Rai, who joined in 1993 and later bought the business. Investing in new equipment and offering customers a 48-hour turnround time have helped to grow profits 60% a year from £1.1m to 2006 to £4.6m in 2009.
