This London firm transports 700 kilotonnes of waste on its fleet of barges and helps convert it into electricity. Founded in 1896, it has its largest facility at Belvedere, which generates 525,000 megawatt hours of electricity each year, powering 160,000 homes. Last year Cory was acquired by a consortium of infrastructure investors for an undisclosed sum.
