Leeds-based Crisp has helped governments and social media platforms to combat false information and fake news related to the spread of Covid-19. Co-founded in 2005 by Adam Hildreth, 35, its proprietary technology scans social media and the web and uses AI to identify false information that could damage the reputations of its customers, which include brands, media firms and enterprises. In 2018 the company raised $25m from Baird Capital, fuelling its expansion into the American market. Sales hit £14.8m in 2019.
