Founded in the 1920s, this family construction firm was revived by father and son Peter and Jabin Cussins, 69 and 38, in 2000 after a period of dormancy. The Northumberland-based builder’s projects now range from luxury city apartments to rural developments and listed building conversions. The growth-capital firm BGF invested £5m in the company in 2014, before selling its shares to the Duke of Northumberland Estates in 2016. This partnership has given Cussins access to sites owned by the duke. Sales grew to £33.1m in the year to September, helped by some of its homes commanding prices of almost £500,000.
