Its flexible motor insurance is used by more than 350,000 customers, and has sold over 2m policies to date. It has raised £17m in funding, including £15m in December last year; investors include LocalGlobe, Tekton Ventures, and Nick Hungerford, the founder of Nutmeg. It was co-founded in 2014 by chief executive Freddy Macnamara, 32, and James Billingham, 25. Its management team includes chairman Bruce Carnegie-Brown, 60, who is also chairman of Lloyd’s of London and vice-chairman of Banco Santander. Net sales hit £6.2m in 2020.
