Cheshire’s Cygnet develops machinery that makes materials such as carbon fibre. Some 95% of last year’s £22.8m sales were to overseas markets, including the US and China. Owned by chief executive Matthew Kimpton-Smith, 46, its fibres are used by Boeing, Airbus, wind turbine company Vestas and automotive firms.
