This firm’s software spots cyber-security threats by using machine learning and advanced maths to identify unusual patterns in digital network behaviour. Darktrace has raised more than $100m from veteran tech investors, including Invoke Capital, the investment vehicle of Autonomy co-founder Mike Lynch. The company is jointly headquartered in Cambridge, UK, and San Francisco, and has a further 18 offices globally. Customers include BT, Virgin Trains and William Hill, and it says revenue has grown 600% since it was founded in 2013, although it does not disclose actual sales. Last month the firm announced a partnership with Samsung, which is also an investor, to integrate its software into connected devices. Chief executive Nicole Eagan, 52, leads the firm.
