Data Locator has helped more than 500 customers, including Procter & Gamble, Scottish Power, Carphone Warehouse and AOL, with their marketing. The Watford company runs three call centres and provides consumer information from its databases and through its own research. Scottish Power, for example, needed a list of people who wanted to change their electricity provider so that it could target them with a mailshot. Simon Johnson founded Data Locator in 1998 and its sales have grown 152% a year from an annualised £326,000 in 2000 to £5.2m in 2003.
