When Formula One commentator Murray Walker’s years beside motor-racing tracks left him partially deaf, he turned to this company for help. David Ormerod Hearing Centres cater for people with hearing loss. They can make an assessment of the problem and supply digital hearing aids to overcome it. The company has own-branded centres in some 100 Boots stores, having acquired Boots Hearingcare in 2003, and also offers services in private and NHS hospitals. Run by the founder’s son, Peter Ormerod, the Welsh firm made three more acquisitions in 2006. Its sales grew 68% a year from £4.3m in 2003 to £20.3m in 2006.
