Making motors and generators for hybrid electric helicopters and safety flares for submarines are among this Bangor group’s projects. Support from the Wales Economic Growth Fund and from Toyota to improve its manufacturing processes have helped it to win contracts with civilian and military clients in Australia, Holland and France – and boosted exports to £2.1m last year. It is run by James Ferranti, 33, great-grandson of Sebastian Ziani de Ferranti, a pioneer of electricity transmission systems in the late 1800s.
