Dewhirst

Isaac Dewhirst, Dewhirst’s founder, also had a hand in the birth of Marks & Spencer, lending Michael Marks £5 to expand his penny bazaar and introducing him to his cashier, Tom Spencer. The Yorkshire firm subsequently went on to manufacture clothing for M&S. Chief executive David Witt led a management buyout from the founding family in 2004.
