Founded in 2015 by Andy Jefferies, 30, and Ben Muller, 36, who met while working at Lloyds Banking Group, Dock & Bay sells its colourful travel towels worldwide, with 50% of all revenues coming from international sales. It says its towels are larger and more compact, dry faster and pick up less sand than equivalent cotton products currently on the market. The company also sells swim shorts – made from recycled plastic bottles – ponchos, fitness cooling towels, and hair wraps. Deborah Meaden invested £75,000 in return for a 10% stake during an appearance on Dragons’ Den in 2017, and the company hit sales of £4.2m in February this year.
