Launched in 1912 to offer Australian farmers insurance for their sheep and cattle, Domestic & General has helped to deliver a million meals to frontline NHS workers during the pandemic. Today, it insures 23 million home appliances for 16 million customers in 11 countries. Last year, its private equity owner CVC Capital sold a 30% stake to the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority — a deal reportedly valuing the company at £1.1bn. It is led by chief executive Ian Mason, 58.
