This Northern Ireland business started in 1976 as a small village butcher’s shop in County Tyrone. Today it is a large wholesaler of lamb and beef to retail and commercial customers across Europe. In 2006 Dunbia opened its first European sales office in Paris, and this year it expanded into pork, with the acquisition of the pork producer Stevenson & Co in County Antrim. The company is led by managing directors Jack and Jim Dobson, and its sales reached £466.3m in 2009.
