Dunlop Standard Aerospace Group

Coventry-based Dunlop Standard Aerospace Group, bought by venture capitalists Doughty Hanson for £510m in 1998 from the aerospace group BTR, makes braking systems and other components for aircraft, as well as servicing these products and various aircraft engines. The group’s companies and profits have benefited from the trend of military and commercial operators to outsource repair and overhaul needs. Profits in 2000 reached £69m on sales of £384m, when the company employed 3,894 people.
