Sir James Dyson unveiled his latest invention in February – the Airblade Tap – a combined tap and hand dryer that claims to dry your hands at the sink in just 12 seconds. Dyson says it took 125 engineers four years and £40m to develop the tap, and it is the first fruit of the company’s increased investment in its research laboratory in Wiltshire. The company is led by Max Conze, 43, who became chief executive in February 2012. Sales in 2011 exceeded £1bn for the first time.
