This company claims to be one of Britain’s largest independent online laptop retailers, selling brands from Acer and Sony to IBM through its four websites and telephone ordering systems. Nick Glynne, a former television producer, took a chance with a liquidated company in 1999, buying it for £3,000. He started out selling a range of computer hardware, but it was a decision to focus on laptops in 2003, enabling bulk-buying from manufacturers and competitive prices for customers, that fuelled sales growth of 106% a year, from £998,000 in 2001 to £8.7m in 2004.
