Frustrated by inefficient courier companies, Tom Allason and Jay Bregman decided to set up a delivery business with a difference. London-based eCourier uses sophisticated technology to book, allocate and track jobs online. Customers enter their collection and delivery addresses on the website, and the system sends the details to the courier best placed to do the job. Winning clients in the investment-banking, legal and retail sectors has boosted sales 55% a year from £1.5m in 2006 to £5.4m in 2009. The company is making a loss.
