The Famous Grouse is the Scots’ top whisky tipple. Brand owner the Edrington Group this year produced a limited edition for Father’s Day called The Famous Dad. The Glasgow company also owns The Macallan and Highland Park and has five distilleries in Scotland. The company’s drinks are popular abroad and 2007 sales of £278.5m were boosted by rising demand from Asia. In 1961, the Robertson sisters set up a trust, which owns three-quarters of the company, to distribute its profits to charity.
