Founded in 1861, the Edrington Group owns some of the world’s leading Scotch whisky brands, including The Famous Grouse, Highland Park and The Macallan. Over the past three years, the group has expanded internationally through acquisition of sales-and-distribution companies in markets such as Taiwan, Hong Kong, China, Sweden, Norway and Denmark. It also bought the Brugal rum and Cutty Sark whisky brands. Headquartered in Glasgow and led by chief executive Ian Curle, the company increased sales 18% to £553.4m in 2011.
