Best known for Scotch whiskies such as the Macallan, Highland Park and the Famous Grouse, Edrington also produces Brugal rum in the Dominican Republic. Led by chief executive Scott McCroskie, 52, Edrington has donated high-strength alcohol made by North British Distillery — which it co-owns with Diageo — to make hand sanitiser. Japanese drinks giant Suntory Holdings, which has a long association with the Macallan, took a 10% stake in Edrington in January for an undisclosed sum.
