Led by brothers Zuber and Mohsin Issa, both 46, EG Group owns and manages 4,500 forecourts under the BP, Esso and Shell fuel brands across Europe and America. Private equity firm TDR Capital acquired a stake in the business in 2015, before merging it with a company in its portfolio, European Forecourt Retail, in 2016. Since then, the group has been on the acquisition trail: in 2017, it bought 1,146 Esso-branded service stations in Italy and 1,000 in Germany, with both deals due to complete later this year. In February, the group acquired 762 sites in America from retailer Kroger for £1.5bn.
