Having run Eisenegger, the clothing retailer, from their Lancashire home for 10 years, founders Peter and Jill Donnelly finally moved into an office this year. The company, which appeared in the 1998 and 1999 Fast Track 100 league tables, has exploited a market for sportswear that can double up as leisurewear. It sells high-quality, low-cost clothes made in the Far East. The clothes, along with accessories, are imported directly into Eisenegger’s retail outlets, a move that cuts storage costs. With 36 shops across Britain, the company has increased sales 93% a year, from £2.3m in 1996 to £16.2m in 1999.
