Element has adapted to local restrictions to keep most of its 200 laboratories worldwide open during the pandemic, and continue testing the safety of materials used in sectors like aerospace, transport and smart devices. Founded in 2010, it bought British rival Exova for £620 million in 2017 and opened aerospace labs in Shanghai and South Carolina in 2019, when overseas sales hit £524.4 million, the largest on the table. It is led by chief executive Jo Wetz, 44.
