In 1996 Mark Cooksey sold his Ferrari to finance the start up of Engineering Staff Solutions. The London company provides engineering staff to the telecoms, transport and power industries. With clients such as Fujitsu, it claims to have built its success on providing whole teams, not just individuals. Guaranteeing the completion of a project rather than simply supplying labour, it claims to offer a refund to any client that is not satisfied with its service. Sales have grown 88% a year from £1.7m in 1997 to £11.5m in 2000, when it had 30 employees.
