It seems appropriate that a former Blue Peter editor and Newsround producer should found a company that provides e-learning software to 9,500 primary schools in England. Lewis Bronze set up Espresso Education in 1997 with technology consultant Tony Bowden using angel investment and grants from the European Space Agency. Funding rounds in 2001 and 2006 secured a further £3.6m from Mecom and Beringea. Successful expansion into the secondary school sector has helped to boost sales 63% a year from £2.8m in 2004 to £11.9m in 2007.
