This company bills itself as the largest distributor of car and van parts in Britain, offering more than 110,000 items from its new distribution centre near Birmingham. It claims to supply components and consumables to more than 5m cars and light commercial vehicles each year. Euro Car Parts sells to independent and franchised garages and recently secured large contracts with the RAC and Kwik-Fit. It also sells to customers through its website and chain of 85 retail stores. The business was founded in 1978 by chairman and managing director Sukhpal Singh to source parts for German car marques. Sales increased 45% to £271.6m in 2010. Following our research, the company was acquired by the Nasdaq-listed automotive parts retailer LKQ in a £225m deal.
