This Wolverhampton firm buys obsolete and redundant mobile phones from British and continental mobile networks and exports them to wholesalers and distributors, mainly in Third World countries. This enables phone companies to replace disposal costs with a new source of revenue. Founder and managing director Steven Athwal recently won a bid for 1,800 old mobiles, which he bought from a British network operator. After testing and grading them, he sold them on at a profit to an Algerian dealer. Sales have increased 69% a year from £1m in 2004 to £3m in 2006.
