Fast Track 100

Dale Cumming is keen to educate consumers about refurbished computers. ‘Their quality is generally as new and we often upgrade the original specifications. They are repackaged and fully guaranteed. But most important, they are cheaper,’ he says. Cumming trained as a clothing designer but was soon drawn to computing. Europc, the Glasgow company he founded in 1997, specialises in brand-name desktops, laptops and servers. Sales have grown 174% a year from £316,000 in 1998 to £6.5m in 2001, when the company employed 28 staff.
