According to Dale Cumming, refurbished computers are an astute buy. ‘The quality is generally as new and we often upgrade the original specifications. It’s repackaged and fully guaranteed. But most important, it’s cheaper,’ he says. Europc, the Glasgow company he founded in 1997, specialises in reconditioned brand-name desktops, laptops and servers. Most of its customers buy through the company’s website. Sales have grown by more than 110% a year from £1.1m in 1999 to £10.6m in 2002.
