Edinburgh-based Exova provides laboratory-testing services to sectors including aerospace, oil and gas, food and pharmaceuticals, helping them to ensure their products meet quality and safety standards. It is owned by the private equity firm Clayton, Dubilier & Rice, which used it to acquire the testing division of thermal-processing company Bodycote in 2008. Operating from 110 locations in 24 countries, Exova is led by chief executive Ian El-Mokadem, who was appointed in April this year. Sales reached £227.9m in 2010.
