By selling wireless technology over the internet, from PDAs and smartphones to MP3 players, this company has grown as quickly as its marketplace. This year, Expansys paid £2.5m for the American company Mobile Planet, which also sells wireless technology. Headed by Roger Butterworth and Matthew Kydd, the company operates distribution centres in nine countries, including North America, and has grown sales 155% a year, from £1.4m in 2001 to £22.9m in 2004.
