Expansys sells wireless technology, including PDAs, smartphones and MP3 players, over the internet and through catalogues. From distribution centres in nine countries including America, it supplies customers in Europe, southeast Asia and the Americas. The Manchester company was established in 1998 after the management bought out a former division of Siemens. Its sales have grown 166% a year from an annualised £670,000 in 2000 to £12.6m in 2003.
