Dennis Cope has created one of the largest housebuilders in the London area, and has built some 28,000 homes since he founded Fairview in 1961. Fairview builds everything from small studios to large riverside penthouses and achieved an attractive profit margin of 32% in 2001. It is currently developing around 30 sites in the south east, and recorded sales of £349m in 2001, when it had 915 employees. Fairview was taken private in 2001 after just three years on the stock exchange, in a £300m deal backed by 3i and the Bank of Scotland.
