Chairman Eric Herd, 56, inherited Farmfoods from his father, who started the company as a meat distributor in Aberdeen in 1955. The firm has since expanded into a chain of more than 300 frozen-food stores. Although last year’s sales dipped slightly, profits rose 10% as the company became more efficient. Last December, Farmfoods acquired the Scottish haulage firm Link Logistics.
