Chairman Eric Herd, 60, inherited Farmfoods from his father, who started the company as a meat distributor in Aberdeen in 1955. From its headquarters near Glasgow, Eric has built the firm into a 300-strong network of frozen-food stores with more than 4,300 staff, and plans to open more shops in the south of England. In 2015 turnover fell by 13% to £694m, despite a 7% growth in profits to £28m.
