Some 260 lingerie, swimwear and nightwear labels, from Paul Smith to Playboy, are for sale through the online retailer Figleaves. Since its launch in 1995 by Daniel Nabarro, the venture has been transformed from a web development company to a business with British and American sites and a sales agreement with Amazon. Earlier this year Benchmark Capital acquired a minority stake for an undisclosed sum and Figleaves set up a new holding company in America, called Figleaves.com Inc. Sales have grown 90% a year from an annualised £3.5m in 2002 to £12.5m in 2004. Next year it plans to launch a patented bra measuring system.
